Choosing A WebCam For Recording Your Videos
If you choose to record live videos using a service like Video Generator, then you will need to choose a web cam that delivers decent quality videos. The one that I chose to use is the Logitech Pro 4000. I've used it for the last year and it works quite well. The circuitry is similar to a digital video camera so the resolution is better than most other web cams.
This camera costs about $70 on Amazon or around $100 at a local electronics store.

Add Video To Your Blog!
Video Blogs are becoming all the rage as it's the most cost effective way to drive thousands of viewers to your blog. However, the video streaming service that is best for you depends upon what type of video you want to stream and how much experience you have with video software.
In general, using Flash-based video is much more cost effective since it doesn't require a streaming media server. Services such as InstantVideoGenerator allow you to record directly to the server using a webcam. This service is based on Flash Communication Server and is very convenient if you simply want to be able to talk to your subscribers and give them updates.
If you want to be able to upload and encode existing movies or movies from a digital camera or other source, then you need to use a software program such as Sorenson Squeeze to convert the file to an flv file before uploading it to InstantVideoGenerator.
If you don't have much experience working with Video it can be an incredibly frustrating experience. In this case, you should consider using a service such as FileStreams that will convert the videos for you and place them online. They only offer business accounts right now, but will be expanding into simple hosting accounts shortly.
